Some places sum up a whole region on their own. The Dune du Pilat is one of them: a hundred metres of sand facing the ocean, the Banc d’Arguin at its feet and the Landes forest stretching as far as the eye can see.

My local tip: come at dawn, or just before sunset. The light is low, the dune almost deserted — and you understand in an instant why so many of my clients fall for the Bay before even viewing a single property.
